Promises, promises, promises

Where the heck have I been? Very few posts this month, I know.

I woke up this morning thinking I should post my resolutions for 2007.
Then I thought, "holy smokes it's gonna be 2007!!!"

'06 whizzed by but not without offering many lessons and blessings.
I feel as if I'm entering '07 with a greater understanding of myself. I also feel like I'm prepared to put a few plans into action. I'm spending xmas in Kansas, and I'll be back in NYC when the clock strikes midnight 1/1/07.

So what are my hopes for 2007?

The Abstract:
  • Keep pushing.
  • Keep listening / watching / questioning.
  • Stay open.
  • Make room for the impossible.
The Concrete:
  • Stop spending money!
  • Keep writing dem plays.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Papa can you hear me?

I saw Yentl for the first time a few nights ago.
It's pretentious, long, weird and f**king great. I loved it.
Barbara is just too wonderful for words.
It's also a lil' odd how homo/hetero/lesbian-erotic it is.
It's Mandy Patinka, Yentl and Amy Irving all participating in varying degrees of sexual tension. Barbara is definitely at the bottom of that hot totem pole but it's still interesting to watch.

Caveman = Black people???

Is it just me or are the Geico caveman commercials a testament to how folks react to modern day racism?
They're treading on familiar territory when the cavemen are sooo upset by the Geico tagline but everyone else thinks they're overreacting.

It's great that a car insurance company has found interesting ways to get America to think about race, huh?
